Errrrrrrrrrrrrr! The brakes of Mrs. Romans car screeched as we parked in the parking lot of Howick beach I opened the door and fresh salty air greeted me I marched over to the shade of the trees were the rest of 6d was waiting eagerly for what was coming next…We were at the beach for a pre water wise session.The sand was glistening in the sun, the squawking gulls roamed the skies above and that taste that salty taste everything about Monday 10th Feb. was amazingMr Nicholls was our instructor for water wise Mrs Martin, Mrs Romans Mrs Cornelius were helping out.6D put their bags in the shade.We were allowed chatting time while the parents got out the optimist’s…OI!!!!Everyone turned their attention to Mr. Nicholls we are now going to put our life jackets Mrs. Romans and Mrs. Cornelius handed out the life jacketsAfter we strapped on our life jackets Mr. Nicholls told us all the parts of an optimist. He went over the rules and how to tie 3 knots, the figure of 8, loop and two half hitches and the bowline.Next we had morning tea I had a box of raisins yum! After that we constructed on optimist, I was in charge of the rudder and the tiller I snapped it in place, fun fact the rudder and the tiller were used on Viking boats of old and you move it right to go left and left to go right.What an amazing Monday I can’t wait until our next water wise session for the fun had just begun the beach calm and scenic a great place to have a picnic well a picnic is happening
